Outreach and Mission
Home > Outreach and Mission
"Through God, all things are possible." The mission outreach of our church tries to address many needs of our community,
locally and globally. We tried to involve every member of our congregation, by sharing information and by requesting time,
talents and resources. Besides the Mission Committee, other groups within the church (Youth, Presbyterian Women, Bible study, etc.)
cooperatively initiate their own mission projects.
We feed the hungry:
* Canned food is collected Sundays for the local food bank
* Twice yearly lunches are cooked and served at the Lunch Box (local soup kitchen run by Dutchess Outreach)
* Thrice yearly holiday (Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas) meals are cooked and shared in Fellowship Hall.
We help the homeless:
* Monthly dinner and visit connects us to the local homeless shelter
* A Yearly Fundraiser supports Hudson River Housing
* Christmas gifts collected for all apartments connected to Grace Smith House (shelter for
victims of domestic violence.)
* As a Covenant Church we aid Habitat for Humanity through financial supports and house builds.
We support the disadvantaged:
* A Mission trip to Appalachia
* Scholarships to rural and migrant ministry develop youth leaders
* Blankets to refugees of war and natural disasters offer shelter.
We advocate for the disenfranchised:
* Legislative letter writing via Bread for the World.
* Crop Walk sponsors make us number one in Dutchess County supporting CWS.
* Heifer Project is supported through the Blessing of Animals.
We honor the environment:
* Adopted local roads are cleaned up annually.
* A forum on environmental issues is held annually
* We raise money to financially support local environmental groups
We connect to the church worldwide:
* Our members participate in (DCIC).
* We support Hudson River Presbytery mission work
* Support for PCUSA General Mission and special offerings (OGHS, Pentecost,
Peacemaking, Christmas Joy)
Please call the church office to volunteer.
